What Is Pursue Grace
The Pursue Grace curriculum explores the topic of racial division within our churches and communities. The material and workshops include a focus on Scripture, research, and encourages open dialogue on the topic of racial reconciliation.
Why This Conversation
Racial division and inequities exist in our world but this is not a part of God’s plan. In fact, racial division is in direct contradiction to the Gospel and hinders our work as witnesses of the Gospel.
Pursue Grace is inspired by the call throughout the book of Acts to spread the gospel “to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). As Christianity was introduced, Judeo-Christians fought against differences that threatened to disqualify non-Jews of the salvation that Jesus promised. It turns out that ethnic, racial, or cultural differences are no match for the grace of God that is available “for all who are far off - for all whom the Lord our God will call” (Acts 2:39).
This message is essential for modern-Christians to consider today. It serves to remind us that we are to follow Christ’s example of loving ALL and use our voices to fight injustice that seeks to strip image-bearers of their God-given value. We must “finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given us - the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace” (Acts 20:24).
